Summer Solstice Yoga Class

Join me for this special Summer Solstice Yoga class designed to celebrate the energy of the longest day of the year and International Yoga Day! The solstice is a time to balance the solar (active, masculine) and lunar (passive, feminine) energies within oneself. This special class includes a mix of dynamic (yang) Surya Namaskars and soothing restorative (yin) poses to achieve this balance. 

We will flow through several rounds of the Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) sequence to revitalize your entire being. The rhythmic flow of the sequence, combined with mindful breathing, becomes a moving meditation, helping you to maintain internal balance and stay calm and centered. After moving your body, you get to enjoy stillness in restorative yoga poses. This offers a calming counterbalance to the invigorating Surya Namaskars, cooling the body and soothing the mind, promoting relaxation and well-being throughout the summer's vibrant days.

  1. Dynamic Surya Namaskars:
    Energize yourself with this sequence that strengthens the whole body, releases lower back tension, opens hip joints, and brings vibrancy and clarity to the mind.

  2. Soothing Restorative Poses:
    After the dynamic Surya Namaskars you get to deeply relax and restore your body with restorative yoga poses that are designed to release tension and activate the parasympathetic nervous system, helping to reduce stress and promote overall well-being​​​​.

  3. Pranayama and Meditation:
    Breath awareness to unite the mind and the body and meditation to deepen your sense of inner peace and presence. These practices help to calm the nervous system and enhance mindfulness.
